The challenge was to cover a wide range of more than 1,000 suture/needle combinations on the market with one device (tray and lid). This has been achieved with the development of the XTRAY® offering manufacturers and distributors of medical devices with this technology platform an opportunity to quickly enter the market with a new product line and own branding. A variety of a very wide range of needle-suture-combinations can be mapped with the XTRAY®. Due to the finished development and documentation, the period of several years from development to marketability for our customers is reduced to a few months. The risks are reduced to a minimum. The development costs are reduced substantially. Another significant cost saving results from the fact that the customer does not need either a mold for the production of plastic trays nor any tooling for the lid.
In contrast to many classic needle and suture carrier solutions, the XTRAY® was not separated from the perspective of the individual task. The task is much more complex and offers a convincingly simple and clear solution. First, in addition to the classic application topics such as ease of winding and convenience of use, important topics such as material optimization, pull forces or complexity of the components have been tested and optimized.
The XTRAY® is the result of the interaction of all partners and components and is conceived and developed from the combination of its use as well as its manufacturing process.
At the same time, there is an important economic and ecological approach behind it: how can the maximum result be achieved with minimal effort for the customer? We thought and implemented this from different perspectives:
